Quick Movie Review: Sanctum

*note: this is the first of my lightning quick movie reviews. I'm not going to get into an in depth character or story analysis and spoil the movie. I'm just going to tell you if I thought it was worth spending a dollar or so to watch it. Also these reviews are a little dated because I wait for them to come out on DVD. cheaper! Are you afraid of falling? tight places? drowning? the dark?
Are you afraid of falling into a tight place and drowning in the dark? Well....SANCTUM!

It's about a bunch of cave divers (spelunkers!) that explore a vast network of caves when some things start going wrong (of course!). Individually, caving, rock climbing, rappelling, and diving are already dangerous. Mix them all together, add some inexperience and bad decisions and you have a major disaster awaiting.

I wanted to watch this movie for the water factor since I have been doing a lot of swimming lately. I also found myself making a lot of comments on the climbing since I had a little experience with that as well. The scenery is great but some of the indoor cave scenes had me thinking "boy I bet those actors are cold in that water tank!" I also thought never since the Chilean miner rescue coverage has Petzl scored such a product placement bonanza. They make some great helmets and headlamps!

This movie was well worth the $1.00 plus tax I spent on it (redbox) and left me wondering how long I could hold my breath and how fresh the batteries in my headlamp are...
