Guppyfriend!

I've been thinking a lot about synthetic microfiber pollution lately. Apparently these microfibers come off our synthetic clothing when we wash them and make their way to the ocean, possibly affecting wildlife. Since I own a lot of synthetics, I felt like I should do what I can.

Enter Guppyfriend!

It's a synthetic washing bag that will trap microfibers and keep them from getting into the water. I ordered mine from Patagonia. I will post an update once I've used it awhile and built up some trapped fibers!

In the future when I need more clothes I'll probably focus on natural fibers like organic cotton, wool and hemp.

like father, like sons — a book review.

I was rather enjoying Stephen King and Owen King's father and son collaboration "Sleeping Beauties" when I read a sentence that stopped me cold and ejected me from the book.

"That's it!" I yelled to my wife. "I'm quitting this book! It happened again!"

A character offers someone a Lightning Quick tutorial on how to use a revolver, saying "Safety'll be on the side. Make sure it's switched off if you see trouble coming...".

REVOLVERS DO NOT HAVE SAFETIES!*
That thing on the side? It's the cylinder release.
* Ok. Some revolvers do have safeties but they are the exception rather than the rule.

After a quick internet search, I learned a few things. There are websites documenting all the gun errors Stephen King has made over the years in his books. Whew, supposedly no errors in "It". My wife just bought that one. Also, to my surprise Stephen King is a gun owner. So why all the mistakes?

As my fan(s) may recall (Hi mom! Sorry dad!) I have previously complained about Joe Hill's errors in his books regarding revolver safeties and four door Dodge Challengers. Well, Joe Hill is Stephen King's son.

Mystery solved. Now I know where he gets it.
The horror. The horror.
