How I changed to a prepaid cellphone plan and never heard from my family again

So about a year ago I decided to leave the family plan and join a prepaid plan which costs $1.99 per day of use. I figured I would save some money since I hardly ever use the phone.

I never heard from my family again. 

Well, at least they never call me anymore. I have to call them. This has been the conversation for the past year:

"Hello? Aiya! You just spent two dollars!

Sigh.
